In Johnson County, Kansas, a frail and sickly dog named Brighe was found barely able to stand due to severe malnutrition and abuse. Her rescuers feared whether she would survive the traumatic ordeal she’d been through.
Brighe was rushed to Mission Care Veterinary Hospital, where she was immediately moved to the intensive care unit. Despite her painful past and visible ribs, her spirit remained unbroken. She charmed everyone with her affectionate nature, surprising the vets with joy and resilience.
The hospital teamed up with Pawsitive Tails Dog Rescue, committed to ensuring Brighe’s abusers wouldn’t have the last say. They vowed to fight for her recovery.
The little warrior, Brighe, named after the Irish word for “strength and power,” embodies her name. Her recent health update on Facebook revealed that her blood work isn’t great but could be worse. She’s lost her appetite, but the team isn’t giving up. They plan to keep her hospitalized and nourish her via a feeding tube.
Pawsitive Rescue shared, “Refeeding dogs in such critical condition is a slow, delicate process and carries risks.” But Brighe’s will to live shines through.
