In a heartrending act of loyalty, Maru, a cherished Bullmastiff, faced the ultimate betrayal six months into her life with her new owner. Citing allergies as the reason, her owner decided to send Maru back to the breeder. But this one-year-old canine had a different plan in mind.

When Maru’s owner expressed her desire to return her, the breeder, Alla, agreed. As per their contract, if the dog couldn’t be kept, she was to be sent back. Alla arranged for someone to accompany Maru by train back to her original home. However, the return journey went differently than planned.

Displaying an extraordinary level of intelligence, Maru used her strong paws to pry open a train compartment door. She made a bold escape at a remote station, leaving the train staff calling her name in vain. Her destination? Back to the owner who no longer wanted her.

Upon learning about Maru’s escape, Alla initiated a frantic search, rallying support through social media. After two-and-a-half days, Maru was found in an industrial area 125 miles (200km) from her escape point. She had braved the most extended railway tracks in the world and survived the threats of bears and wolves.

Maru was found injured with broken paws and damaged feet, likely the result of a panic attack during her daring escape. Despite the traumatic ordeal, her unwavering loyalty led her back to the woman who had abandoned her.

Alla believes that the determined Maru would have completed her journey if not for her injuries. Now, the brave Bullmastiff is receiving care for her injuries and has joyfully reunited with Alla and her family.

This touching story is a testament to the loyalty and determination of our canine companions, proving that even the longest journeys can be overcome.
