Six-year-old Pit Bull Lady Shortcake is famous for her captivating smile. This irresistible trait made her human instantly fall for her. Now adopted, Shortcake’s smile radiates even more, whether she’s thrilled or trying to wiggle out of a sticky situation. Her unique charm has won the hearts of dog enthusiasts worldwide.

Her delightful social media posts are a ray of sunshine for many. One glimpse at Shortcake, and you’re sure to feel a warm fuzziness!
However, life wasn’t always rosy for Shortcake. Found wandering alone on Fresno’s streets, she was battling a hernia and severe mange. Initially placed in a local shelter, she was later moved to Fresno Bully Rescue.

Shortcake’s future mom, Amy Matsushima, saw a video of her at the vet’s office. Despite appearing nervous, Shortcake’s adorable smile was unmissable. It was love at first sight for Matsushima, who knew she had to adopt her.
“She looked miserable but was wagging her tail and had that little smile,” Matsushima shared. “It just hit me in my heart, and I was like, ‘Oh, I have to meet this dog.'”

After adoption, Shortcake’s smile became broader. Everything from nap times to car rides brought a grin to her face. Five years into her loving home, she still cherishes her perfect family.
A few months into her forever home, Shortcake’s skin conditions healed completely. Her smile grew even more extensive. Matsushima reveals that Shortcake loves playing and cuddling but strangely dislikes walks. Sometimes, she flashes her adorable smile to convince her mom to let her nap instead of walk.

“I’m not sure why she smiles so much,” Matsushima said. “I can’t make her do it on cue.”
Shortcake’s social media following grows every day, thanks to her mom’s posts of the rescue pup dressing up, adventuring, and, of course, smiling. Her increasing popularity is a testament to the joy of adopting a rescue dog. After all, they might never stop smiling!
