Martina Russo and her partner Fil are no strangers to the open road, often embarking on van trips. However, one journey through the Spanish countryside proved to be different. An adorable Shih Tzu/Yorkie mix played tag with their moving van.

The tiny dog, however, wasn’t just frolicking. Her pursuit grew increasingly frantic, prompting Martina and Fil to let her hop into their vehicle. This was the start of an unexpected friendship.
The little dog, who they later named Moxie, was relentless in her chase. It didn’t take long for them to sense that something was amiss. Why was this pup running alone in such a remote place? They offered her water, and she gratefully jumped into their van.

The couple undertook a mission to find Moxie’s family, knocking on every local door posting online, but to no avail. When they tried returning her to where they first found her, hoping she would run home, Moxie chose to stay with them instead.
“We took her to the vet the next day. She was not chipped, not spayed, female, about one year old, fur very overgrown and full of gunk around the eyes,” Martina revealed.

With no one seemingly searching for Moxie, Martina, and Fil decided to give her a loving home. The bond Moxie had formed with them was undeniable, and they knew she’d fit right into their family.
Nowadays, Moxie is a regular member of Martina and Fil’s travels across Europe, accompanied by their cats. Her spirited nature and loyalty make her an ideal travel buddy.

“Moxie is sweet, playful, and has a soft spot for our cats and children. We take her on all our adventures, and she brings laughter into our lives daily,” Martina gushes.

Despite her small stature, Moxie has no trouble keeping up, even during mountain hikes. It’s genuinely remarkable how Moxie found her way into Martina and Fil’s lives during a bleak period of her own. She instinctively knew they would be the perfect family for her – and she was right!
